I have been working on many new projects as of late. When I say that, I really just mean I've been spending more of my "photography time" trying to make money off of my work versus creating more of it. Though monetary profit is never my end-goal, it sure is a great perk to something that is nothing more than a hobby. So yeah, I've been doing a bunch of craft fairs (the summer Next2Hectorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06682028827912809754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4366771020278519110.post-34664930583742934712012-07-31T14:30:00.000-07:002012-07-31T14:30:29.778-07:00Havre De Grace and Susquehanna State ParkTiltin' and Shiftin' some the USA for a change...

The first round was judged by the company that sponsored the contest. I was voted by that company to move onto the second and final round. The second and final round was judged by the rest of the world...you guys. You guys voted for me and because of that, I was one of the eight winners.

My images tend to be more abstract...they tend to be portions of buildings as opposed to the whole structure. Sometimes such a small portion of it that it doesn't seem like an architectural shot at all. Today, though, I give you straight-up architecture. Just a building. The whole thing. My family is coming to visit us in Belfast next week. A rather exciting prospect...but also one we need to prepare for. Mentally, physically but mostly materially. We only have enough silverware for four people...we will have more than that to feed. So we made our way to the heart of the city and purchased some Next2Hectorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06682028827912809754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4366771020278519110.post-84998852766804036542012-03-04T11:11:00.000-08:002012-03-04T11:11:56.087-08:00Golden SkyToday was a free day. A day all to myself. So, after sleeping in and eating a massive bowl of granola, I grabbed my camera and headed for the woods. I'm rather lucky, see, in order to get to the woods you have to go for a nice walk along the river, pass tons of dogs and waterfowl, meander across a meadow and climb a few rolling hills. Not a bad way to reach my destination.Next2Hectorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06682028827912809754noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4366771020278519110.post-59443804686421618502012-03-03T09:31:00.000-08:002012-03-03T09:31:43.005-08:00Double-DeckerIt took six months for me to see one of the older nicer looker double-decker buses. Went back today). I didn't know the quote or who Chuck D was, but in this age of information, it was not hard to find the quote (lyrics to Rebel Without a Pause) or the guy (part of the rap group Public Enemy). I liked the addition of the hand and pawn piece to what otherwise would have just been some standard quote that Next2Hectorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06682028827912809754noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4366771020278519110.post-77794167987707539782012-03-01T11:32:00.001-08:002012-03-01T11:33:59.999-08:00With A Little Less Than Two Weeks To Go...Today my wife reminded me of the fact that the main building at her school, Queen's University Belfast, is beautiful. It definitely is. I took a photograph of it awhile ago...indeed I did, but have not used it to its full potential (and I have less than two weeks to go on this 365 day photo thing). Thus, I decided to see what I could come up with using my 50mm...

Quite frightening. The problem with the specks was that they would only show up when my f-stop was greater than 11. I tend to shoot with low f-stops...so I didn't learn that they were there until I was in the middle of some nice landscapes. I am always fairly pleased with the results. Today's shot wasn't as good as some of my others...like the first photo here. In my book, Pancake Tuesday is far superior to Fasnacht Day...pancakes are actually delicious, where as the fasnacht is fairly tasteless and nasty.
