Farewell To Middle Creek

My internet keeps dying so I'm going to make this quick and hope I am actually able to post today...

This is my farewell to Middle Creek, my home away from home.  This upcoming year of overseas traveling will be the longest amount of time that I will have gone without making an evening drive or weekend bike ride to this wonderful little place filled with wildlife and great hiking trails.  Longest sentence ever.  Tonight was a nice farewell...we saw some beautiful stars over the water and a mink bounding past on the little driving loop.

Dipping into the Water

It looks like the Big Dipper is dipping into the water.  The evening clouds really helped keep this picture from being too standard.

Golden Fields and Purple Skies

The way my car's headlights lit up just the field allowed me to get an interesting contrast between the sky and it.  The end result seems like a painting of sorts.

The Last Time?

I drove past the school that I have been taking photos of yesterday.  I drove past it twice.  There was maybe an hour and a half between the two trips.  In that hour and a half it went from about half left standing to very little left standing.  This made me want to continue the documenting process of it's demise, the fact that very little is left.  So today, after a nice run and a swim in a pool, I went back and found even more missing.  There are no rooms left...everything that remains is either a wall with very little attached or an unidentifiable "piece" of what was once a school.  I might go back when there is nothing at all...we shall see.

   A Slight Breeze Could Bring It To It's Knees

A beautiful sunset created the perfect color tones for this post-apocalyptic scene.  If I didn't know what this mass of scrap metal was just two weeks ago, I'd have no idea what it is or once was.

A Junkyard Wasteland

A field that stretches into a baseball diamond has become a temporary junkyard for the site.  A barn in the distance creates just enough light to illuminate pieces of what could have once been a locker room or science lab.  

Silhouettes of Four

I was amazed by my brother's girlfriend the other day.  We were driving around, and she kept going on and on about how beautiful the countryside is.  I live in a beautiful area, so that reaction on its own doesn't warrant my amazement.  What does warrant it is the fact that she is from an area that I find ridiculously beautiful.  I wouldn't have thought she could be so taken by the countryside...but she was...so I decided to look around today and realize just how much I'm taking for granted. 

Country Roads...

It's not like I disregard the beauty of where I live...not at all...I'm always out photographing it (I must find something about it tolerable).  She just helped me see that even if you are from a gorgeous area, that doesn't stop other places from being awe-inspiring, nor should you let it.
