I finally finished my urban alphabet.  Finally.  I only have a week left in this 365 day photo project, so I figured I really needed to get out there and find that annoying and elusive "Z".  Here it is...

More Urban Alphabet

I figured I should probably finish up Ephrata, PA's urban alphabet before I leave it for...well...potentially forever.  I only have another 25 days left before the big move to Northern Ireland.  I must say, I am crazy excited.  Also, I realized that when I started this 365 photo project, without even knowing it, I started about 6 months before the day we leave.  I think its about 5 months and 20 days.  So I will have half a year in America and a nice contrasting half a year in Northern Ireland.  It will be quite interesting to go back and see what a busy day that requires a filler photograph in America is in comparison to a filler photograph in Northern Ireland...I assume filler there, if for no other reason than because I have never lived outside of the USA and thus will be amazed by everything, will end up being a lot better than even some of my good stuff here.  We shall see.

The Elusive Letter

Here is the next letter for my Urban Alphabet.  The K.  You'd think the K would be an easy one...or at least I did.  Bars and pipes and wires are always going at each other in angles...that should make it awfully easy to find a K.  Apparently those angles are never the degrees I want them to be.  I have been hunting down a K for weeks now.  I finally found it today in a lumber yard roof.  Not the best K, but I don't think I can continue to look for Ks...it would drive me insane.  Now that I found it, though, I'm sure they will start popping up everywhere.

It Has Been Some Time

...Since I did my last installment of my Urban Alphabet.  So, with a free morning, I hopped on my bike and rode around town looking first and foremost for my elusive G. 
I frequently have my camera attached to me while I'm on my bike, so I have been looking for the G for quite some time.  I have had no luck up until this point.  Today, I told myself I had to find it.  I did...Within the first 3 minutes of being on the hunt, too.  H, I, and J were quickly found after the G popped into existence.

Now I can spell out Big Head.  That, my friends, is an accomplishment.

Today I stumbled upon the next three letters for my urban alphabet project.  DEF.  I now can write a few words.  I'm no longer limited to cab.  Feed, deaf, and bead are just the tips of the proverbial icebergs.

Ideas for Series

I came up with two new series ideas today.  One isn't really mine, I've seen it all over the place, in fact.  The other is mine...as far as I know.  The first is an urban alphabet of sorts.  Basically, I find different things that you might come across in a city that resembles a letter of the alphabet.  My intention is to get the entire alphabet, as well as 0 - 9.  This then allows you to write out a word or name or what have you with your hometown, or whatever city you chose to do it in. 
My second series idea was to create a self portrait.  My desire is to, from time to time, take a picture of different body parts and then create a collage from those single shots.  In addition to just having these separate shots to piece together, I also will be shooting each body part in a situation or with an object that relates to that body part as well as exposes something about me, such as an hobby, an interest, a characteristic, or whatever.  The final collage will be both an actual portrait of me as well as a less physical, more metaphorical portrait of me.

This will be an urban alphabet from the quaint little town known as Ephrata.  The first three letters of the alphabet are shown here.  Limited to these letters, I can create the abbreviation for "already been chewed", a necessary abbreviation for the younger generations, as well as the word "cab."  That's about it.  Once I build my repertoire, the possibilities will be endless.

My Left Hand

This photo shows not only my left hand, but also my love for the outdoors.  I am grasping a tree in the photo, but it looks enough like a rock that the image can be taken as pretty much any nature related physical activity...rock climbing, hiking, climbing a tree....anything.
